In today’s video, I’m going to share with you the benefits of a ketogenic diet. Ketogenic diets can actually help weight loss, cancer, and even Alzheimer’s disease. When you are on a ketogenic diet, it means you are putting your body into a state of ketosis, which means your body is burning fat for energy rather than carbohydrates. The ketogenic diet could be the best diet for fat loss, however I don’t believe anyone should be on this diet for more than 3-6 months. The reason why this diet works so effectively is your body stops feeding on sugar and starts burning your fat. The diet consists of about 80% fats, 10% carbohydrates, and 10% protein.

The ketogenic for cancer: The cancer cells have no sugar to feed off of, so they get starved to death. This is why the ketogenic diet is great for cancer patients.

The ketogenic for weight loss: Your body starts burning it’s own fat for energy 24/7 which shaves off fat more rapidly than other diets.
The ketogenic diet for Alzheimer’s disease: You need to support the brain nerve system with healthy fats. Your body in a state ketosis is critical for the brain and the natural treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

While on the ketogenic diet, you want three types of healthy fats: healthy saturated fats, omega 3 fatty acids, and omega 9 fats. For more on the ketogenic diet, you can check out this article: http://draxe.com/truth-about-the-controversial-ketogenic-diet/

  1. Cancer cells feed on sugar? Where did you get that? All cells in the body feed on glucose, normal and cancer cells feed on the same thing. Keto diet seems to work and has scientific studies that prove it, but please, don't make up shit like that as people will start to disbelieve.

  2. Interesting. Will give it a try. I want to lose another 14 kg and I'm done. Just going through a weight loss plateau at the moment using a 80 percent raw diet and 20 percent protein along with fruits.

  3. I started eating ketogenic diet this week. Started taking wheatgrass yesterday. Having rapid heart beats. Woke up at 3am with rapid heart beats. Having them now, when I sit up or when I lie down. Help?????

  4. He doesn't say WHY your body needs carbohydrates long term… doesn't make sense that ketosis would be fine for 6 months, but not for 2 years or permanently. Seems nonsensical. Plus, I know of medical doctors who have been keto for 7 or more years straight, and they're perfectly healthy.

  5. Check out the KETOCALC app at the app stores. easiest way to see how ketogenic you meal is before you eat it. Protein, carbs, and fat all make different contributions to your state of ketosis. This app puts it all together.

  6. Jeff Volek, who wrote the book on the subject with Dr Phinney, has been on the ketogenic diet for 20 years. Prof. Tim Noakes has stated that there is no human requirement for carbohydrate that the body can't take care of itself. the amount of glucose needed by the brain is very low. Now I know that you are a rookie on the subject off human ketosis. You had better catch up to reality if you want me to watch your videos. You're right on many things, Doc, but you're full of shot on the 3 to 6 month thing.

  7. Instead of cycling on and off a strict Ketogenic diet, I can't help thinking that long term it would be healthier to stick to the basic principles (high healthy fat, medium lean protein, low carbs, low sugar), but up the amount of healthy, fibrous carbohydrates like sweet potatoes, brown rice etc to a more balanced level. It wouldn't be especially ketogenic in comparison, but sounds like a sensible compromise to me.

  9. If your dietary fats are in the range of 60-80% of daily calories, wouldn't you just burn the dietary fats not your own? Wouldn't you still need a caloric deficit to burn your own body fat to lose Weight?

  10. I've lost 42 pounds so far, 3.5 months. Feel much better. This is easier
than the Atkins, which I had done off and on for years. Both diets give
me lots of energy. I am also using the coconut oil in morning coffee,
lots of vitamins, mild exercise. I'm over 55 and past menopause. I wish
everyone would learn about this diet.
