  1. Just out of curiosity, what happens if one day a month you allow yourself to eat a bigger portion o carbs (not go crazy) say eat a couple slices of pizza, or a plate of pasta? Will my body have to go through the whole adaptation again? Or will it adjust quickly?

    1. I don't eat red meat can still do this program?
    2. Do you know of phone app that I could track my protein and carbohydrates?
    3. is there somewhere that I could get a list of what is good to eat for this program?

  3. It took me 2 months as my body was very resistant to get into ketosis. I also required the addition of a substance called keto Force to actually push me over the cliff. A big issue was controlling my stress levels as increasing my cortisol which was preventing ketosis from working.

Welcome alternative to the wanna be chiroquack, dietician, and crossfit people all fired up on their hormones trying to sell supplements or just get their face on youtube. This was valuable info for the newbie.

  5. It is impassible to keep your carb lees than 5% and protein lees than 25% without drinking oils or eating spoons full of butters! You can eat avocados but you will be adding carbs to your diet you can eat meats but it comes with protein with enough proportion to brake your percentage balance required for Ketosis.
    Ketosis is natural and it happens naturally when we starve but artificially putting yourself through ketosis by having out of proportion fat is something not advised. There needs to be more long term research done to understand the dangerous and side effects.

  8. Holy cow! I have been on the ketogenic diet for 3 weeks, and it's as bad as any other diet. I feel hungry (growling stomach), have horrible cravings, and still feel massively deprived. It is also very difficult to determine how much protein I need at any given time. Ugh!

Oh my gosh ,i thank you for the info , both my parents had Alzheimer's, heart disease and diabetes runs in my family both sides !Ias well as morbid obesity! both my grandmas were large women and my first diet was third grade ! nine years ago my daughter had gastric bypass and i followed behind her as did 3 of my cousins and two of my sisters .I lost 100 lbs and have maintained about 85 lbs loss and do eat a good diet but as i age i seem to want better nutrition and more and more natural foods .i cook pretty much every day most of my meals and i do moderate exercise 4 to 5 times a week .I want to do keto because my son is doing great on it , he has lost 20 pounds and looks so much better and happier too even brighter and more alert i love to cook and i like what i see as far as recipes and healthy fats as food sources.,I have a familial tremor in my left hand as does my son and so did my dad .i want the health bennie of the keto ! what do you think about this idea as i am a gastric patient?i would like to hear your take and i do see my surgeon at least once per year , i am grateful to my docs for helping me and my doc is really happy with my results , but i am very curious and i know i want to try keto as i don1t feel its far off from how i eat now…what do you think ? maybe this is a topic you could address on your channel?I have not seen this question yet but i could be wrong about that.   10. Great video!!! It's great to see/hear a medical doctor trained in mainstream medicine explain the ketogenic diet and its health benefits. I have been living a ketogenic lifestyle for close to three years and although I am currently not as healthy as I could be, my health issues are little by little being resolved thanks to following a ketogenic diet.

    My most recent blood work showed my total cholesterol to be primarily composed of those big and buoyant lipoprotein molecules mentioned on this video, and because my physician is a trained Functional Medicine MD, he was able to explain why it is not an issued to be concerned about. He is helping me to address other health issues that had gotten to chronic stages over the years and the main prescription I follow is the ketogenic diet. This diet also addresses the very common problem of leaky gut (which I have) and among its many benefits is the strengthening of my immune system, which in turn relieves the stress placed on the endocrine system, mainly in my case my autoimmune thyroid issue, and adrenals issue.

    For years I was fastidious about following a high carbohydrates-low fat diet (high in complex carbs and high in inflammatory PUFA's) and as a result of it I have experienced bad health, including hormonal dysfunction, a seizure, thyroid dysfunction, inability to manage my weight, constant infections of the skin, and many other issues including IBS with constant and persistent diarrhea.

    But now finally, thanks to the ketogenic way of eating and the help of my current doctor, I am looking forward to better health and the total resolution of my health issues.

  11. I have two questions. First, what does this do to your LDL cholesterol level and two, what happens when you go off this diet and return to a standard American diet?

    1. Atkins diet = low-carbs + high protein
    2. Too much protein = amino acids = glucose 1g per 1kg
    3. Misconception: ketosis is bad for you – doctors are trained about diabetic ketoacidosis
    4. Brainswashed: saturated fat and cholestrol causes heart disease, touted by the pharmaceutical industry
    5. If your insulin levels are low, the fat is consumed for energy, whatever metabolizes is in big fluffy particles which is resistant to getting into your artery walls
    6. Saturated fats are the most efficient energy sources, body doesn’t have to break down (coconut oil, butter, red-meat etc)
    7. After 4-days you’ll burn up all glucose reserves > ketosis
    8. Significant adjustment after 4-5 days (light-headedness, foggyness)
    9. If not getting into ketosis – you’re consuming too many carbs!
    10. 2nd reason – too much protein
    11. Use urinal ketone strips to test if you’re operating on ketones
    12. Our nervous system prefers to use fat
    13. Ketosis diet can treat alzheimers, MS, heart diseases, seizure disorders
