I drank a diet coke to see if it would knock me out of ketosis.

  1. Starbucks has a base they use in all their drinks that is very carby. A Starbucks latte with no added sugar is 18g. Insane.
I will not be drinking diet sodas anymore. Thank you. I work really hard to stay in ketosis, I don't need stupid diet drinks messing me up.

  2. I'm not surprised at all, aspartame is a poison and honestly the effect it had on your blood sugar and ketones is the least of it's dangers 🙁

To make it short aspartame is a neurotoxin that destroys your brain cells, causes lots of mental disorders and also on a side note makes you eat more.

    More info here :

"safe" sweeteners (as far as we know at the moment) are sugar alcohols : xylitol, erythritol (also found naturally in fruits) and stevia.

All others have negative effects and some like aspartame have them on your brain and nervous system.

  3. Damn the sodas are crap, huh? That's so fucked up man. What should I do? This is so disappointing. It's enough to worry me… My blood sugar runs 78-101 daily and higher in the middle of the day and I wake up at 78 all the time. 101 is the highest I've ever went and it was 1 hour after a Lenny and Larry cookie so I left those alone. But I love my Pepsi Max… I'm sort of sad right now…. I'll do the same experiment with my max later this week.

  4. My same brand ketone meter seems to bounce all over. My ketonix has been consistent with 3-5 red blips, but the morning ketone readings have varied from 4.1 down to 1.2. You had a drop in ketones after drinking the Diet Coke. I wonder what a third strip would have shown!

  5. This was just what I needed to hear, I've been slowly working on cutting out my diet coke and I think that after hearing this I will be able to do it completely. Even if the drop in ketones wasn't too bad, it still obviously dropped. Thanks :)
