    Ketosis begins when liver glycogen is depleted, and the amount of glycogen in the liver only provides enough glucose for 12-16 hours. Thus, when you limit carbs to 20 net grams, it takes no longer than 24 hours to enter ketosis.

  2. My 11 year old is moderately overweight for his height, according to his pediatrician, so encouraged him to do a Keto diet with me. Just after 2 days of following a keto diet, he is showing large or dark purple on the ketone test strips. I have been doing the keto diet for about a year and the best I can do is Moderate or light purple on the test strip. Should I be concerned that he is fully burning ketones just after 2 days of keto? Is that bad for him in some way?

    You mentioned in this video that we need to eliminate sugar at all.
    I noticed that there are certain products that has a little bit sugar in it( bacon and peanut butter), will these kick me out of ketosis ?? Thanks in advance

  4. Hi Dr. Berg, I've been doing the keto diet for over a month now. I havent' loss any weight. Today I measured my glucose and it was 79 but my keotones was 5.0, that's too high right? I am eating 200g of fat and following 80/15/5 macros. What could i be doing wrong?

  5. My friends first introduced me on the weight loss plan "fizy amazing plan", i googled it. My entire life has transformed for the better after I shed 15 lbs by following this plan!. Try this your self, hope you will like it like me.

  6. I definitely recommend taking a fiber supplement when you begin the diet because you may have very painful bowel movements at first. I guess it is a shock to your digestive system or whatnot. I recommend Meta Mucil capsules as they are the only ones with 0g net carbs I could find (3g carbs and 3g dietary fiber). Vicariously a good source of calcium.

  7. I've lost 30 pounds on keto for 30 days so far. Great vegetables I find easy to slip in with most meals: Spinach, lettuce, asparagus, cauliflower, onions and peppers (in moderation), mushrooms, and the kingpin broccoli.

    If you have a craving for sugar, you can get away with eating a few strawberries. (and I do mean a few like 3-5 tops to keep macros solid) Compared to most fruits they actually have a surprisingly low amount of sugar.

  8. takes me about 4 days… if im eating dairy it takes much longer for some reason. Can you talk a little bit about why cheese or a little cream in my coffee might effect ketosis?

  9. Been reading on this diet for a while now, and eating under 50gr of carbs for a few days, but I do have some questions regarding my circumstances and how they relate to ketosis.
    1. I have fought with reactive hypoglycemia my entire life, while on the surface this diet appears better seeing as there is not much in the way of carbs to stimulate that insulin, are there any special considerations for someone who has unpredictable spikes in insulin hence drops in blood sugar? My case is not the most severe but I have gone into hypoglycemic shock several dozen times in my life and nearly died from it once.
    2. To get back in shape I am doing strength training and body building, is there a way I can get more protein in my diet without stimulating insulin production. Slower digesting proteins? Eating them with fiber? Any ideas?
    3. Seeing as very active muscles need alot of fuel will ketosis create glycogen or would I have to eat more carbs for that?
    4. Is extra virgin avocado oil a "healthy oil" I never heard it mentioned here and it is my favorite.
    No major issues with the diet thus far, no blood sugar swings, but my muscles feel sluggish, had to skip my workout yesterday because I had not yet recovered from the last workout, not sure if that is due to the reduced protein intake, I used to eat 150-200gr a day, now I am under half of that.
